Tried microsoft/WSL#6430 (comment) and multiple other solutions, however none of them fully resolve the issue. GTK no longer instantly fails to connect to display after setting the $DISPLAY var (see 1). But, it attempts to launch for ~2 minutes, and then prompts the cannot connect to display error. I believe this may be due to the connection timing out, perhaps?

Something else I noticed is that none of my installed Linux apps sync to my start menu. I don't even seem to have the "Linux" tab in my file explorer.

Updated to Windows 11 build 10.0.22621.819, still does not seem to work with the same error. When following the wiki, none of the file locations exist -- including /mnt/wslg/versions.txt.
