Once I made the decision to allow or disallow automatic tasks, I don't have a way to revise my decision.

Introduced action with #64615. This is a simple implementation that adds two commands. One for enabling. One for disabling. It mimics what we currently have for terminal shell configurations. This should be revised in future iterations.
