Windows Version

Microsoft Windows [Version 22621.1555]

WSL Version

1.2.0.0

Are you using WSL 1 or WSL 2?

  • WSL 2
  • WSL 1

Kernel Version

5.15.90.1

Distro Version

Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS

Other Software

Docker version 20.10.24, build 297e128

Repro Steps

My WSL was working fine two days ago, but it just could not launch yesterday.
I run wsl in terminal, the cursor just moved new line without any output.
WSL can not work so my docker engine also can not launch.
I did nothing before, just use my laptop normally. This problem appears.

Expected Behavior

WSL should launch propertly, so did docker engine.

Actual Behavior

Running wsl in terminal, the cursor just moved new line without any output.

My problem, like yours, has not been solved.
The power went out the night before, and my computer didn't shut down. Now the Linux folder is empty and can't be deleted. All commands related to wsl can't be executed. After enter, the cursor keeps flashing without any error feedback.

I could only backup my data and reinstall Windows. :(
I guess shut down Windows abnormally might lead to this problem. Because I often let my laptop in sleeping mode, after a while the laptop will go to hibernating mode, which will move data in RAM to SSD and power off the laotop. After many times the Linux file may be damaged.
