Summary of the new feature/enhancement

Windows systray icons are genrally white or black depending on the theme (and third aprt ones are hidden). It would look more consistent for Powertoys to have a white (dark mode) or black (light mode) systray icon.

Not really true, Outlook, teams, OneDrive, Skype, Defender all use color. Issue #1118 also is looking to refresh the icon

@crutkas my fault, I was being vague: by 'Windows systray icons', I mean the icons that are part of Windows. In your screenshot you have:

  • volume, wifi, battery, defender, onedrive (parts of Windows, they're black and white)

  • Skype, Outlook, Teams (they're apps, not part of Windows) and a second onedrive icon (not sure what is going on here, maybe an internal Microsoft thing?).

One is OneDrive personal, other is onedrive work. Defender itself has a green check too.

I see value on adding color only when we need to for the icon. I would say issue #1118 would be the driving force then and creating the states for what each would be needed. Elevated Process and needing elevation would be the two that come to mind instantly
