Probably linked to chartjs/Chart.js#5578.

Another option would be to use decimation, eg https://github.com/AlbinoDrought/chartjs-plugin-downsample, or to reduce the time range.

As a workaround we can now configure the time span so that when a lot of data has to be displayed the user can reduce it and mitigate this effect.
