Hey @chjohnst - thanks for submitting this plugin proposal. I'm assuming that you are thinking about retrieving statistics from Postgre rather than retrieving data itself, right?
For the latter you could use our DBI plugin.

This proposal will be added to our plugins wishlist, but still we need a volunteer to help us create this plugin.
