Issues with using latest cabal-3.12.1.0

Error: Unable to process file command 'output' successfully.
Error: Invalid format '/home/runner/.local/state/cabal/store'

Upon downgrading to cabal-3.10.3.0 the problem went away

I took a quick look, but I could not see what could possibly be causing this problem.
