I also think that we can hit on the power of others by Dr. Henry Cloud. He talks in Chapter 10 about how we need external structure at the start of building something. In college/grad school you can do independent study but kindergartens need external structure. Even in self directed learning such as Montessori schools, they still have a teacher guiding them. This is important because contributing to an external structure helps beginners more than just doing things themselves. And advanced players get a chance to give back new knowledge.
