Would you mind expanding on your interests a bit more? Are there specific challenges or aspects of hiring and team building that particularly interest you? Or perhaps you have insights or experiences that could benefit the community here? I'd love to hear more about your thoughts on this topic.

I'll pontificate below on some additional thoughts with my experience hiring employees.

I personally have experience hiring contractors (designers, VAs, and engineers) and being lead engineer hiring employees for my 9-5. so have some experience. I've read a few books on the topic as well. I haven't had a business successful enough to employ someone as a W2 employee myself but that's the goal.

I've found that hiring the wrong person is the biggest waste of money. You'll both be paying their salary and have a huge organizational drag trying to get them up to speed. One the flip side the goal is to find someone who can take ownership of an area so you don't have to think about it and grow it on your behalf. It's much better to pay for talent rather than try to go for the cheapest talent for a job. It's ~25-50% more money but if they are an A-level employee then you'll make more profit in the end because they'll grow the business for you.

I think that Leila Hormozi has some good advice for early hires.

• Early hires should focus on offloading tasks that you hate and are bad at, particularly those critical to the business's success.
• Prioritize offloading tasks that are low-dollar-per-hour work to free up time for higher-value tasks.
• Consider hiring an executive assistant early on to handle administrative and low-value tasks.
• Instead of the "hire slow, fire fast" mantra, focus on hiring well and setting clear expectations.
• Proper onboarding and training are essential before considering termination.
• Effective communication and addressing deficits can prevent unnecessary firings.
