Overview

We need to create a wiki structure and task list to support our Intern Interaction with HfLA teams so that we can stay organized across all team member and working times

Action Items

  • Add the milestone: 06.01.01 Research Plan Create Wiki Pages
  • Link the roadmap and its issue for your research into the resources below
  • Create a label for your research plan, using the next number available
    • Add label to this issue and to the roadmap issue
  • Create a new wiki page for it
  • use the template to copy the structure
  • Link new wiki page to Output overview wiki page
    • Link it to the appropriate page under Research Documents by overview type
    • Link it under the list Research Documents by each plan
  • Fill out the wiki page
  • Customize issues that will need to be made by striking through unneeded issues from this list (put a ~ before and after the text to format it as strikethrough text).
  • Update Outstanding Task Items on wiki page to reflect the necessary issues from the list above.
  • Have review meeting with Research Lead.
  • Have alignment meeting with Product for sign-off.
  • Create issues using templates from the list of template issues.

2022.MM.DD Meeting Agenda

Reason for meeting

We need to address a blocker in how to proceed with the planning of RP20: Intern Interaction with HfLA Teams (and broadly the roadmap of Other HfLA Teams research).

If we don't address this within the next month, we may lose access to our research participants (HfLA team volunteers) due to typical attrition from the organization. Also, it's best to ask them questions while their memories are still fresh.

Attendees

  • Bonnie
  • Sara

New agenda items

  • Discuss goals of RP20: Interaction with HfLA teams
    • What is this research going to tell us that we don't already know from the interns and mentors?
    • What information is needed to decide whether to proceed with internship in future years? How would that decision be reached?
    • Is the goal of this research to improve the internship for the interns, for everyone else, or both?
    • Possible research questions generated by our team:
      • To what extent did the HfLA volunteers interact with the interns? (frequency and engagement)
      • Were there challenges that HfLA volunteers faced in working with the interns?
      • From the POV of the HfLA volunteer, were the interns effective in their roles on the team?

@bradyse here are some thoughts
Place the interns on a scale from 1-5 with 5 significantly more effective than ordinary volunteers and 1 being significantly less
Did it impact the website team differently than having regular volunteers, if yes, how?
To what extent did the HfLA volunteers you interact with the interns? (frequency and engagement)
Who else should we talk to that had interaction, or was affected by the interns?

@ExperimentsInHonesty @priyatalwar

I updated the wiki page for this RP and created a working spreadsheet document here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Y15zT64U4fPu1QXSQJWwRg_DZZL29wtJZqkLpcdvdCU/edit?usp=sharing on collecting quantitative data on the Intern's Pull Requests.

@shimahoush @lkawentel I will need to meet with the PMs to sign off on plan before I can create the issues needed to move forward. See updated Wiki Page here: https://github.com/hackforla/internship/wiki/Research-Plan-20:-Intern-Interaction-with-HfLA-Teams
