Roboto Mono is considered variable-pitch by PuTTY in Windows #251
Comments
Related to #225. |
hello? |
To add to this, Roboto Mono isn't seen by the Windows console for Powershell, CMD, WSL, etc. |
This will be fixed with Pull Request #1824, which is near completion. Test of patched fonts working in PuTTY font preferences: There are a few isolated issues with glyph widths in Roboto Mono that haven't yet been addressed, because these will take more time and need to be scheduled accordingly in the overall context of the backlog. However, it should soon be working better in Windows monospace-based environments. |
(Possibly related to or caused by #142 #160 #249)
Roboto Mono is not considered to be a monospace font in PuTTY -- which I assume is actually "in Windows" but I didn't test with other programs.
This causes it not show up in the selectable fonts list when configuring PuTTY unless the option "Allow selection of variable-pitch fonts" is selected. Additionally, PuTTY is noticeably slower in refreshing the screen when Roboto Mono is selected (as compared with Droid Mono), presumably due to its being variable pitch.
