The Buzz with Online Dating: 3 Tips for Creating your Bumble Profile

by Jennifer Price

If you’re interested in online dating, then you’ve heard of Bumble. Touted as a dating app which puts the power in the hands of women, Bumble is one of the most used dating apps, along with Tinder and Hinge, but making a dating profile, at whatever stage of single you might be, is never easy. Check below for three tips on how to make your Bumble profile more accessible and usable as you move through your online dating journey.

Be handy.

You don’t know what to say. They don’t know what to say. It’s awkward. Especially if you’re not required by Bumble to send the first message, including a prompt in your profile related to your interest or passion, whether that’s:

What’s your favorite Marvel movie?"

or

"Ask me about my vintage shoe collection."

gives your match an instant point of connection to start a conversation.

Be upfront.

Be clear about your boundaries and expectations (when necessary) from the get-go. You don’t have to put the schematics for your Bumble-to-honeymoon pipeline in your profile, but including dealbreakers like the level of commitment you’re looking for or lifestyle choices like drinking and smoking prevent you and others from wasting your time.

Be you.(and make sure they know it!)

Yes, obviously, you should always try to represent yourself as honestly as you can on your profile: interests, deepest aspirations, what haunts your soul, etc. But I’m talking about pictures. Group photos show you have friends (and are probably not a serial killer), but make sure you have plenty (3-5) of different photos by yourself that reflect the different versions of you. Also, please, avoid any pictures of you and your ex.

Profile Picture Do's and Don'ts

See the image gallery below for what to do (and what not to do) when it comes to choosing Bumble profile pics!

Everyone loves a dog picture. Everyone loves a cat picture. If they don’t…well, you don’t need that negative energy in your life, and it’s better that they didn’t swipe right, anyway.
