I can't seem to find the reason, but noticed that they are missing in the demo as well.

I too find this issue to be present (and confirm the demo observation) but have not as of yet dedicated much effort to discover the root cause. Quoting the text in the testimonials.md did not make a difference, which would have been an "easy" fix. Will continue to investigate.
