We get hundreds of applicants per day for jobs that we push out on channels such as LinkedIn. If we were to spend 10mins on every applicant we get, we'd have 33hrs of work per day.

You are smart computer scientists. Lets think about a solution to that problem. Before you get to this point, you should have had at least 30 minutes of phone time with each candidate you initially vetted.

Some questions:

  1. Do you use automated tooling, or can you work on automating tooling to assess candidates, which you communicate openly and honestly about to candidates?
  2. If you have 10 minutes, how are you feeding back to the candidates?
    • is it kind?
    • is it respectful?
    • does it promote growth? (this is the goal of your platform yes? so why not mirror that in the process).
  3. Could you front-load this by providing an optional field in application process for exercism username?
    • Lets you know of their mentoring history and capacity.
    • Lets you know about interests, or areas of the platform they have interacted with.
    • Have they contributed, and how did that go?

Nice thing to share, not sure how it came up on my computer, but 10 minutes, is not ideal. Best of luck with improvements to a great platform.
