Description

have been running Ente Auth in its window on my Linux desktop since I installed version 4.2.8, but I had to close the window in order to do a Linux Debian update.

After my update I ran the Ente Auth command.
The Ente Auth window opened, but is black and says:

Update available
v4.3.1
Download

I clicked on Download (thinking it would do an automatic update in the background and refresh the window). Instead it opened the following webpage:

https://github.com/ente-io/ente/releases/tag/auth-v4.3.1

This link took ages to load but eventually I saw the list of Assets at the bottom.

I downloaded the deb file for v4.3.1 and updated the Ente Auth executable.

However when I again tried to run Ente Auth, I still got the Update message as above,
so that window persists in being shown despite the Ente Auth version being updated.

It would be good to have an icon (e.g. an X) which could be clicked on so that the window is dismissed and doesn't reappear. Could it be that there is an X icon in that
window, but it has a black colour and so is not visible ?

Auth v4.3.2 has been released last week, perhaps that's why you're still getting the update dialogue, since you updated to 4.3.1?

Version v4.3.1 had errors in it, which I reported. The error messages include references to Flutter. I notice that notes with v4.3.2 include a reference to downgrading Flutter.

Before v4.3.2 came out, I regressed to using v4.2.8, which I am still using okay at the moment, with no re-apperance yet of that Update window. If that window reappears I will install v4.3.2

It would be great if the developers are able to sort out the problem with the persistence of the Update window.

Ideally, now the app should not show update window. You can manually go and check for new update from Settings -> About -> Check for update.

In the future, we will add a notification that can be dismissed to notify users about new versions of the app.
