We need a toast prompt to alert users to the new data grid.

Details of the toast prompt

Only toast once for each user
Make the toast disappear after five seconds
The toast should use EUI where possible
The toast should be evident on the screen (design, please)
Have the text of the toast read:

Introducing a new Discover
Great news! There are now better ways to sort, filter, and compare your data with our new table.
Get started | Read more

The first line of the above text should be bold, the second line normal, and the third line should be two buttons. Read more goes to the docs (link needed) and Get started takes you to the advanced setting to toggle it on.

It should looks something like this, but without the toggle.

Nice to have: Make the toast reappear after clicking an icon that makes it obvious there is a new feature to try.
Note: This toast will be replaced in 7.14 with Labs integration of the data grid option.

Here's a design proposal for this toast

@andreadelrio I like this, but it looks too much like the errors that people just dismiss. Especially if you consider the 'F" look most people give a site. Is there the ability to tie a prompt like the one here to the Options menu. The toast would take you directly to the setting, or if it is burnt (goes away) you can still click options to get the menu there.

could tour be used for that? https://elastic.github.io/eui/#/display/tour

@shaunmcgough that's a good point Shaun. I think the reference you shared could work. Here's what it would look like.

@kertal I think EuiTour might be a bit overkill for this scenario. We'd need a step/beacon to have them click on Options and then that would open the Options menu and show the "Get started" button, so more clicks. In the mock above, the Options menu is already opened upon landing on Discover.

To clarify on the timing here, if this a late addition for 7.13?

@andreadelrio looks great to me. Open by default is highly preferred.

@ryankeairns yes, this is requested for 7.13.

We decided this would not make it in 7.13, and that we will settle for a bit of verbiage change in the Options menu and Advanced Settings as evidenced:

do we still need this, shall we keep this open?

is this still needed?

I don't feel that this is needed. The issue is that we don't have a great way of managing these (general Kibana issue) and they tend to just keep popping up over and over. I'm thinking this could be addressed once the Labs feature is rounded out and/or through an in-app chat mechanism, as well. Given that, I will close this issue.
