Note that this work is blocked on the eventual UI and UX work we plan to do for the 8.0 upgrade.

We're currently missing telemetry for this plugin. We can add a utility like Observability's use_track_metric hook to make it easier to instrument the code.

See previous PRs where we've instrumented apps for telemetry, for reference.

UI metrics has been deprected in favor of UI Counters. which should enable a much better analysis of the data coming from the UI. The API should be almost the same but look for ui counters in the kibana READMEs to get started.
