I'm not quite sure the process here but could #40828 be backported to 7.x? It prevents elasticsearch from working on arm64 (e.g. Mac M1) out of the box.

I was trying to run an elasticseach demo, the docker image is published as ARM compatible, but it's not without the above fix

demo is https://github.com/jenkinsci/opentelemetry-plugin/blob/master/demos/docker-compose.yml#L62, which looks like it is setting the option itself as well, (it doesn't appear to do anything changing it though, removing or setting a different value doesn't do anything)
