How to handle graphical images

This document describes how we handle logos and other graphical images.

General Recommendations

When creating a graphical image, for use within the Eiffel community, add the original file to the repository along with any needed format. To help future updates, place a README in the directory explaining any procedures or thought behind the creative process.

Logos

We use GIMP to create our logos. In the community repository the eiffel-community-logos.xcf holds our logos and the working with community logos describes the process on how to work with it.

Graphical Images

SVG images

Both the Eiffel protocol repository and Sepia have used Inkscape. Inkscape saves its images in a variant of SVG that most browsers can render directly. When saving an image you get the choice to save it as "Inkscape SVG" or "Plain SVG". Always add the image as an Inkscape SVG to the repository.
