Availability on slow or poor network/mobile connections

As a user, I want to be assured that I can connect with the people I'm talking to even if I have a slow or poor internet connection, particularly on mobile, so that I can still get work done whilst on a bus between locations for example.

This is the thing I hate most about Slack. When on poorer mobile connections (but still 3G), the app just stays on the ever-annoying (now) load screen and you can't even read past messages, let alone new ones or interactions.
