Regardless of whether the store directory is defined or default, the app will create any directory that doesn't exist. When using default, the directory is specified as ~/.... Rather than creating a directory in the home directory, the app will create a directory relative to the npm install location e.g. /path/to/my/app/~/....
The default directory for SSL should be changed, and this issue with relative directory creation should be resolved.
