CSS grid anyone? 🙂

I’ve been thinking, CSS grid has been around for a while. Hi be got some questions around grid things and flex in general so will drop them here.

Is it worth us looking into switching up our grid system from the flex based system we currently use?

Do we still need a grid system as it is, if we move towards css grid?

Looking at the current grid system, is max-width required if we use flex-basis? Should we be using any width based properties on flex items?

@MBLHarrison asked a similar question the other day.

My thinking about this is CSS grid itself is the grid system. So really, would we instead think of what layouts do people generally want to achieve. And then we build those using grid for them.

Would it replace the current Flexbox grid system? I'm not sure, possibly. But we should definitely explore the possibility. Maybe through a few hack sessions

At the very least flex utilities are something I find useful. And Flex seems better for component level layout work rather than page structure
