How to NSF

Aaron Smith edited this page Mar 10, 2019 · 5 revisions
  • Need a university that does not charge and take care of the transfers with NSF. Ron Mak (SJSU, San Jose) was taking care of it.
  • Need a chair across the three conferences who dispatches the applications (SIGs, NSF, ...)
  • Handled by regonline?
  • Typical amount: $30,000 or $10,000 per conference
  • Ratio per conference: split equally 1/3 among HPCA/PPoPP/CGO

Preparing the Proposal

  1. First contact the appropriate program officer at NSF to make sure they are accepting grant proposals and that funding is available. This has been Anindya Banerjee recently.
  2. Once you receive the OK from NSF, meet with your institute to discuss preparing the grant proposal. Universities have an office that knows how to prepare a grant proposal. This might be called something like "Research Foundation" or the "Office for Sponsored Research".
  3. After your institution prepares the proposal, they will need to submit it to NSF.
