Quite perplexing. If indications are not set in the Prescribe command (for use with the edit command lifecycle method), then edits updating days_supply work correctly. But if indications are set, the days_supply update stops working. It's possible this could be unrelated to days_supply and just indicates that indications has a problem, and no fields are updated at all.
