Developing news
This page contains a list of news stories from our sources that we plan to summarize for a future newsletter. For regular News items, we try to summarize all significant discussion from the previous week (Monday-Sunday), but sometimes a story is borderline notable and could use some seasoning, or it's too complicated for us to figure out quickly (possibly leading us to schedule a Deep Dive), or our writers simply don't have enough time to work on it this week. On rare occasion, we might also delay writing about something for our Notable Code and Documentation Changes section, usually because we need to do additional research to understand it. We also won't write about anything that best fits into one of our monthly sections (e.g. Changing Consensus or Changes to Services and Client Software) until that section is next published, unless the news is especially urgent.
Any Optech contributor is welcome to add to this list (please be sure to include at least one link per item). Items will be removed when they are written about or when it's clear that we won't write about them. Note that many stories which initially make this list will not be written about: when we take a serious look at them, they turn out to be less interesting than anticipated.
- Minimal signing flow changes for TRUC channels (on Feb 4 unclear whether or not it's based on a misconception): https://delvingbitcoin.org/t/minimal-signing-flow-changes-for-truc-channels/1414/7
- ZK gossip for LN channel announcements (follow up) https://delvingbitcoin.org/t/zk-gossip-for-lightning-channel-announcements/1407/17
- Reinterating [for the third time in Optech!] centralized coinjoin
- @harding comments: although a lot of words have been written, I'm not really sure where the fundamental disagreement is. Todd agrees "here we have a form of MITM attack". The rest feels like him hair splitting, but I'd have to actually look into details to be sure, which I'm not overly excited to do. It seems like he might have plans to publish more about this, which would be a good time to reconsider for inclusion in the newsletter.
- Hybrid jamming mitigation: https://delvingbitcoin.org/t/hybrid-jamming-mitigation-results-and-updates/1147/7 (Morehouse asks good follow-up questions; it'd be good to get Kirk-Cohen's replies before writing)
- Antoine P on Bitcoin Core's priorities https://delvingbitcoin.org/t/antoine-poinsot-on-bitcoin-cores-priorities/1470 (Harding posted some of his own thoughts and wants to cool down a bit before trying to summarize the thread)

- P2QRH proposal from mailing list
