Hi @csharpfritz, great work with the event planning.

Some feedback:

  • for future events, it would be great if there's a clear way to measure event demographics.
  • also add an opt-put and text input option for attendees.
  • lastly, the team should consider placing the coc on the website where one can easily find it.

I understand this event is past, but I do hope the review gives you and the team feedback on where to improve.

Well done!

Hey @Maryblessing some thoughts:

  1. We do not collect demographic information because this would create a potential violation of privacy laws like GDPR. All are welcome, and we believe we do not need your demographic information to provide you with an event that all will enjoy.
  2. Why would a user need to opt-out? There is no demographic information collected
  3. The code-of-conduct is clearly visible in the footer and links to a local copy that is on the website at https://www.dotnetconf.net/code-of-conduct

@the-techgurl 👋 Hi! Just making sure you saw this ping. If you have a lot going on right now and don't have the capacity to review this application, no worries at all! We are happy to assign this to another, just let me know 😊 💖

@csharpfritz Thanks for responding to our suggestions! Of course, that's all they are. 😄 We recommend collecting demographic information so organizers can have more insight into who their attendees are, and ensure that the folks attending are coming from a diverse set of demographic pools. Having a diverse audience may improve a sense of inclusion and belonging at the conference for underrepresented groups, which makes the event more welcoming for those folks in particular. If you do ever decide to reconsider, we recommend gathering a small set of questions from the Open Demographic Project or getting ideas from some of the European conferences that ask qualified GDPR-compliant demographic questions.
Hope that helps! 👍
