I noticed that _index.md files specified in are not properly working like in other themes (Ananke, Papermod). Their usage is described in the Content organization page of the Hugo Documentation. Essentially, the front matter and content of an _index.md file is included in taxonomy, allowing one to, for example, use a custom title and brief content before different posts are listed in a blog.
In my case specifically, the front matter metadata is being used (e.g. title: "Journal") is being properly used to title a section, but the content is not being shown before the listing of subpages in the section.
