I receive this error only when using DEBUG=False. Replacing select2.min.js with the latest minified version from http://ivaynberg.github.com/select2/ fixed the issue. You might want to use that version instead?

There seems to be something wrong in your minified script. For example, near the definition of escapeMarkup: "" should be "\".
