This issue sounds similar to #839. Are you seeing this if you use another audio output? Can you provide DEBUG9 logs? As well, one user mentioned that a reinstall seemed to fix the issue.

Alexa speech starts always truncated with HDMI Audio on RPi3 with Raspbian.
