Multicolor: use the color of the model that the support touches

Good morning and happy new year 2025.

I am using more and more color printing (not a bambulab n but KCM and Mosaic Palette)

And I realize something:
When you print a model in color with supports, the color of the support in contact with the supported object does not always match. which is extremely annoying if you peel off the supports of very different colors, you see inclusions of the support of the wrong color in the object itself.

I don't know if it's complicated, but it would be good to add an option to force the slicer to use the same color on the support as the color of the part of the model it touches

I could see how this idea might generate additional waste in the form of purge material, but there might be situations where it would be desired strongly enough to accept the cost.

If you have not already looked at the "Filament for Supports" section in the Multimaterial tab, you can set the material that is used right before the supported part of the print. I've used PLA as interface to make easy breakaway supports, but I've had issues where the PLA contaminates the following layers and causes the layers to separate under stress. This could probably be solved with a prime tower that is calibrated from experience, but I've put that idea on the back burner for now.

Anyway, what I'm getting at with the "Filament for Supports" section is that you can select the filament used right before the print itself, so if you have a clear/transparent material, perhaps you could load that as the interface material. It would make cleanup easier, and whatever you don't remove might be invisible enough not to notice.

Or you could try the PLA trick if you have a toolchanger head or a properly calibrated purge/prime routine.
