Migrating from DNA to ZC
------------------------
DNA/Libzero have been replaced by PF_RING ZC that includes a superset of both technologies.
We have decided to allow you to migrate your existing DNA/libzero licenses to ZC at no cost.
All ypu have to do it so go to http://www.nmon.net/dnatozc/ and specify the MAC address for
which an existing DNA license has been created and you will receive an equivalent ZC license.
Introduction
------------
PF_RING ZC is a technology that combines the former DNA+libzero into a single and
comprehensive API. Please consider migrating to ZC as this offers several advantages
with respect to DNA and libzero.
Moving from DNA to ZC
---------------------
The main things to know are:
1. Load PF_RING-aware drivers instead of DNA drivers
2. Configure huge-pages. Please read README.hugepages
3. Open the device with "zc:ethX" instead of "dnaX".
4. Remember that contrary to DNA, a ZC device enables kernel-bypass only when such
device is open, and it goes back to standard networking when no application is
using it.
5. You can still use the old DNA drivers with ZC, although we suggest to move to
PF_RING-aware drivers.
Moving from Libzero to ZC
-------------------------
1. Libzero applications do not run on top of ZC and non-DNA drivers.
Support
-------
At the moment both DNA/Libzero and ZC are supported, but we plan in the long run to
discontinue DNA/Libzero in favour of ZC.
