Can't run tutorial - Failed to get root window: XError

I'm sorry to bother, but I can't seem to be able to run the tutorial. I'm thinking it's something on my end, so excuse my ignorance, but could anyone point me in the right direction as to find a solution?
I'm on Linux(voidlinux), here is the error that i get:
