Unable to open GPIO direction interface for pin...

Hi,

I had an home made application running on the Raspeberry that seems to be broken after an apt-get dist-upgrade operation. To make it short, running:

Now gives me:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to open GPIO direction interface for pin [10]: Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type

Which mean "no such file or directory".

Any idea why or where I can start to look at? What is this directory that it is trying to access and fail?

GpioFactory.setDefaultProvider(new RaspiGpioProvider(RaspiPinNumberingScheme.BROADCOM_PIN_NUMBERING));

Seems to resolve my issue... I will have to validate if it's doing the right thing...

Hey, by default V1 of Pi4J uses the WiringPi numbering, which can indeed be confusing... BCM (Broadcom) is different but better known and also used in V2 of Pi4J.

Please check for instance https://pinout.xyz/pinout/pin13_gpio27# which makes clear which numbers to be used.

So if I don't define RaspiPinNumberingScheme.BROADCOM_PIN_NUMBERING I can change my code to use the pin number on the provided link? I'm trying to read an SPIO sensor and now it keeps failing :-/

Also, I'm not sure witch wiring I was using. I wrote that more than a year ago and didn't specify anything WiringPI or BCM. My SPI clock was RaspiPin.GPIO_14. On your link it seems to be 11... I will update my code to use what you have provided and see if it helps. Thanks.

That's my 2 options right now, and none of the are working. RaspiPin.GPIO_08 is never accessible, what ever I configure. And when using Wiring Pi, I'm not reading the correct information from the sensor. I'm starting to wonder if it's not my censor.

GpioFactory.setDefaultProvider(new RaspiGpioProvider(RaspiPinNumberingScheme.DEFAULT_PIN_NUMBERING));

goes with the first option.

When I try te broadcom approach (Both BROADCOM_PIN_NUMBERING and RaspiPin.GPIO_08) I keep getting the error:

Ok. So after looking more closely to all of that, I think this should have work and is not working:

GpioFactory.setDefaultProvider(new RaspiGpioProvider(RaspiPinNumberingScheme.BROADCOM_PIN_NUMBERING));
protected MAX31865 max = new MAX31865(RaspiPin.GPIO_08, RaspiPin.GPIO_11, RaspiPin.GPIO_09, RaspiPin.GPIO_10, (int) 0x80, (int) 0xC2);

Where MAX31865 is doing:

GpioFactory.getInstance().provisionDigitalOutputPin(cs_pin, "SPI_CS");

cs_pin is the first parameter of the constructor.

This returns the exception above. From the pin schema (https://pinout.xyz/pinout/pin24_gpio8) BCM pin number 8 is the correct one for SPI.
