Describe the bug
If you right-click an image on Windows and say to copy it, it doesn't actually copy. I only have the means to test on Windows, so I can't say if this happens on other platforms.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Right-click any image in a conversation on Windows.
  2. Select Copy.
  3. Try to paste in any other application.

Expected behavior
Image will paste.

Desktop (please complete the following information):

  • Windows
  • 5.6.0

Additional context
Have reproduced this on three different machines, all Windows 11.

Happens on Arch Linux too, 5.6.0 under Wayland KDE.

I'm also having this issue with not just image but also text. I actually created a ticket for that too!

Doesn't seem the dev has been responding to any issues lately, including ones about QR codes not working. I'm really hoping this project is still going because I love it.

See my comment about the 3 dot menu vs the copy option under the right click menu in #487.

  • The right-click menu to copy only works if you first select something. I don't think you can select an image in this app (like you can with text) because clicking expands the image and dragging activates the drop to insert into current message. Therefore, I don't think the right click to copy will work (unless there is a change that can be made to the app code to allow that).
  • For images, the 3 dot menu that appears when you hover doesn't have an option to copy (only delete). Since the 3 dot menu is controlled by Google Message for Web (not this app), there isn't anything that can be done via that avenue.
  • Looks like you will have to download the image in order to copy it.
