VSTs crash sometimes when parameters are changed #1183
Comments
Is this in one specific project? win32xp Cant reproduce. |
While trying to test this: |
@musikBear I'll answer your questions in the order you asked: No. Not reliably. I tried tweaking from the knobs in LMMS for quite some time with no crashing. I haven't tried automation yet. I'll have to do some testing and see. |
@Spekular You are not surposed to press the 'X' - you should use the button ' show GUI' @SecondFlight -So its the actual Synth1-UI that you tweaked- Oki -i'l try to do that as well, i have tested for the lmms-UI I have tweak dials slider buttons for 20 mins now - No crash, hang or lag detected, at all |
@musikBear The sylenth1 demo is better for reproducing it as far as I can tell. It's a really small download :3 |
but sylenth1 - doesnt that has some image-line-blocking? Like it freezes for some seconds every now and then? Can you reproduce this issue with any of the free VSTs? |
@musikBear No, it's not caused by a limitation. Here's a quote from their site:
|
Irrelevant since it doesn't invalidate the bug report. ⛄ |
@Spekular It is probably important to note that it crashes in the same way. It could be that, in absentmindedly using the X button, I cause it to crash because of that bug. |
Duplicate report, but on our forums: |
This happens to me with Synth1 and the Syelnth1 demo, to name a couple. After about 5 - 10 minutes of tweaking knobs, LMMS freezes up. It happens when I change a parameter, and I don't think it matters which. It loads fine though, and if I don't change any parameters, it doesn't crash.
Some notes:
The five minutes isn't exact. That's about how long it takes for it to crash, but it has nothing to do with the time.
When I went to test this today, it crashed synth1 when starting and then didn't crash at all after that. I'm sure I didn't change anything except possibly my behavior. (I started synth1, opened up the parameter list and tweaked knobs, then switched to the GUI, then switched to sylenth1 demo without restarting or making a new vestige instance and repeated the same thing - this took at least half an hour.)
I can do further testing if anybody would like me to. This crashing after 5 minutes happened at least 4 times last time I was trying this (same LMMS version and plugin versions).
I'm running Windows 7, 64 bit, but I'm using 32 bit VSTs as far as I know. I can check this if it's important
