Recording songs

I tried using BlackHole with BUTT on my iMac Pro with iOS 14.6.1 Sonoma. I see the audio input listed in BUTT. Not sure how to get the audio source I am playing into BlackHole. It doesn't move my meter in BUTT when I play the songs. Can anyone please give me advice on how to do it or if it can be done?

And you didn't answer my question. I wanted to know how to capture my system audio on a Mac with BlackHole as I do not see a way to select input and it does not capture my system audio.

Because I didn't know what BUTT was.

I can't support BUTT especially since I know absolutely nothing about it. Try to get things working with Audacity first. Set BlackHole2ch as the system output. Set BlackHole2ch as the input in Audacity and try to record. Make sure Audacity has microphone permission.

capturing system audio, is always a case of a aggregate device being created first...
with blackhole as the first device,
and your output device, ie speakers/audio interface as the second device
system audio or applications that have no audio routing usually always comes through on blackhole 1+2
at which point you require something like a DAW, that can take the input of Blackhole 1+2 & record it,
inside the DAW in order to listen to the audio as it records, or for playback, you set your outputs to the 2nd device...
you can basically record any audio coming from your system, if your routing is correct
i use Reaper to record any & all audio
