Chitinid Minor Update (Bug Fix + Resistance updates + Guidebook update) #2796
Chitinid Minor Update (Bug Fix + Resistance updates + Guidebook update) #2796
Conversation
Fixes the bug where they lose their light with an anom (Game limitations lets them only have one light at a time but the light returns after losing the anom) Tweaked resistance to be a bit more tanky for the cost of weaker to elemental things like shock and harder to heal due to inability to be injected Removed unneeded text from guidebook entry, added a more visible warning about Chitzite, fixed a spelling error, reflected more of the numerical values in the text.
I'm a bit out of the loop, were they always unable to be injected with syringes or is this PR adding that? |
They were always unable to be injected by syringes, this is just referring to that and how wirh that and their weaknesses it made them really weak in combat, the changes just alter the weaknesses and resistances so the inability to be syringed in combat is off set by needing to be healed less often. |
Believe me when I say the "No syringes" thing is a bigger negative than you'd think. I had a whole medbay struggle to receive me for like 5 minutes cause they couldn't shock me then start injecting me. It was funny though if I'm honest |
Ya it hindsight it turned out to be WAAAAY bigger then thought, but ya it is funny as hell seeing those situations, had a few myself one where they had me in surgery for an hour because it happened almost start of the round, the other was a new doc being taught and they had to learn to give me a bottle of chems instead But hay! i did have a round where med made pills for us! so that is great! |
It's a pretty neat drawback, I like it a lot! Anyways this is straightforward so it's direction approved, just waiting on maints. |
Sweet! i am making one last adjustment however but its to what they can eat, doesn't make sense for ants to not be able to eat chocolate and raw meat |
Well, gonna take more work to change the raw meat thing but chocolate is edible now! |

About the PR
Fixed the bug related to them losing their light when infected by an anomaly that gives them a new light.
Tweaked resistances so they were more resistant to common damage types versus weaker.
Removed unneeded text from their guide book entry to make it nicer to read as well as fixing a spelling error.
Why / Balance
From the get go they were pretty well off however from playing and watching things becoming harder to heal during combat situations while also being much weaker to the most common forms of combat made them a bit rough to get in a fight (especially as an antag one,) These changes should hopefully make the difficulty of healing drawback feel more interesting and make them just that little bit more fun. Their resistances and weaknesses are now as followed:
Resistances:
Radiation: 80%
Slash: 10%
Blunt: 10%
Peirce: 10%
Weaknesses:
Cold: 25%
Shock: 15%
also fixing the light thing was needed as it was very bad for them to lose an ability all together because of a random anom infection.
