What is the RGB range of the virtual monitor?

Hi,

My setup is a htpc streaming from a rtx 4080s to a lg g4. I was wondering what the RGB range of the virtual display is? (Full/Limited)
I don't have an option in the nvidia control panel to change it.

I also saw a large discussion on the HDR brightness, and was wondering what the best practice is there?

It doesn't matter if the display is virtual. Use 444 if possible(4080S is totally capable of doing 444) to get the best color performance.

You need to calibrate HDR on the target display through stream to get the best result.

Hi, so I've tested your recommendations

Stream: 4k120hz hdr at 90 mbps

Host processing latency:
Av1 10bit - 15/24
Hevc 10 bit P5 - 15/24
Hevc 4:4:4 P5 - decoding latency >100

So I experienced no difference between either codec, while 4:4:4 seemed to put strain on my htpc i3 12100.
What is your experience comparing both?

Edit: decoding for both is between 0.5-1 ms

That's interesting, maybe decoding 444 isn't supported with the i3's iGPU. So if AV1 and HEVC gives identical latency, then just go with AV1 for less bandwidth.

Hi, I've done some reading and finally understand why you recommend 4:4:4. So my rtx 4080s at the moment is encoding RGB 10 bit to YUV (AV1 4:4:4) then the htpc intel is decoding it to RGB again. By Using YUV from the get-go I can just skip this step. Moreover, the intel according to the intel site only can decode AV1 4:2:0 so color information is being lost, while HEVC supports 4:4:4. Is this correct?

I'm not familiar with newer Intel chips(I'm still on 9900K), but the specs shouldn't lie.
