AVIM needs a Frequently Asked Questions document, either on the website or the wiki. Some possible questions:

  • Why does Vietnamese need an IME? (Distinguish between IMEs and keyboard layouts.)
  • Why use an IME extension instead of IMEs embedded in webpages? (Support for every website and application chrome like the search bar.)
  • Why use an IME extension instead of IMEs installed in the system? (Aware of surrounding webpage, support for custom widgets, including poorly accessible Web applications.)
  • Why use AVIM instead of Google Input Tools? (Privacy, total coverage of UI and non-Google Web applications, precomposed characters, context-aware. Emphasize that Chrome doesn’t afford extensions this level of control over the application.)
  • Why doesn’t AVIM support Flash? (See Support Flash by rerouting keyboard focus #87.)
