Generally all coding outside of my primary job is done for open source projects exclusively. I prefer to release my creations to the world so they can be used to help others in one way or another. This also allows me to work on projects that interest me which means I'm more likely to put my full effort into them.
I generally work on projects involving Kotlin, Java, and other JVM languages along with various frameworks, especially Spring Boot. Additionally, I work on several Android projects.
The majority of my solo projects tend to be learning projects, and not consumer ready products, or products designed to specifically fulfill my own needs, but I do participate in several projects that are in production use when time permits, and excerpts from my projects are often used in other open source projects.
Disclaimer: Additionally, I run the non-profit Ethics in Software Foundation and write all code for its website and systems and maintain all IT infrastructure. This organization is working to promote ethics in the software development industry in the way software is developed as well as in how software engineers are treated. Money from this sponsorship will not be used for any proprietary systems for EISFdn, though due to the nature of open source, some open source projects with cross functional use may indirectly benefit this organization. However, if you wish to support this organization, please instead contact Ethics in Software Foundation rather than supporting me directly.
