Our colleagues at the UKAEA are working on supporting non-vacuum boundary conditions. Currently, when a particle exits the model we're looking at tracking back to the last surface in the root universe it would've crossed were surface tracking occurring. Then the boundary condition on that surface will be applied (if needed). We're open to suggestions on other approaches here.
