If you have a TeX capacity problem while producing the PDF with images,
trie replacing the value of pool_size in your texmf.cnf file.

On my Debian 3.0 I changed in
/var/lib/texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf

the line

pool_size = 125000
-=-=-=

into

-=-=-=
pool_size = 250000
-=-=-=
