Так как обновления расширений в хроме могут приходить по несколько дней, нужно написать на сервере middleware (либо попробовать втиснуться в falcon-cors) который на OPTIONS запрос отсылает header с требуемой версией расширения.
В расширении, в случае несоответствии текущей версии с той что указана в хедере, делать запрос requestUpdateCheck и принудительное обновление используя onUpdateAvailable из API хрома.
