Bug Summary

Users will find themselves unable to interact with the application due to expired token despite the frontend appears to be "logged in"

Steps to Reproduce

log in
leave the app on for some time in the background
switch screens (not refresh) to trigger new api calls
will get permission denied error

Additional Context

need to fix it by adjusting the token refresh logic
