I don't know if you noticed or not, but this project has been dead for at least 3 years...together with its support. So, where is the problem if someone brings it back to life and ask a "little donation" to continue the development? 🤷‍♂️

I'm not saying you can not brings it back to life or asking for a "little donation", but this source code is licensed under GPLv3, other party should fulfill the conditions to distribute own copies, what's the point to open source when someone can just steal your code and monetize it.

GNU General Public License v3.0

Understandable (under lincense POV) point, but if nobody take the reins of the project, and the existing one continue to be dead (mainly because zero revenues), I don't think it's a bad idea to offer an alternative...also under the same name, to help users to understand the app purpose.

At this point the error was firstly of Aefyr, that binded this project to a license, despite knowing the fate that it would have.

This is quite a take. Most people would consider it unethical to make money off of other people's work (and/or its reputation) without permission.

At this point you could become the main project developer, to offers features and support and prevents that users will buy the copied version.

Problem solved. 👍

In case anyone is interested, https://github.com/apk-editor/APK-Explorer-Editor worked for installing a split apk and is available on F-droid as APK Explorer & Editor

It's a problem if anyone uses the same name which is a copy. This one is trying to confuse users to install and buy it. Who knows it could be a spyware and copies the popular name. Make it a different name and make it obvious, then it's not a problem.

Despite of the project being dead and no new features added, it still continues to work. I believe in open source ideology and strongly advocate respecting the licensing rights. Also btw there is no bug which needs to be fixed.
